Despite the provocative statements of some government officials to China regarding what happened to 22 fishermen on Reed bank incident, Pres. Rodrigo Duterte maintained a diplomatic stand on the matter.

Contrary to what others expected from the President on what his reaction would be towards the incident, the Chief Executive had a very calm approach in what he called a 'little maritime incident'.

His statement did not sit well on some of the highest officials of the country with Senator Lacson saying that the President's comment on the issue 'left us heartbroken'.

But a Professor from the University of the Philippines disagree with such statement along with others that came from some senators and opposition officials alike.

In a Facebook post, UP Professor and Doctor Francisco Pascual Tranquilino said that Vice President Leni Robredo, Senators Hontiveros, Poe, and Lacson do not have the right to be the country's next President.

"These people are ignorant when it comes to international diplomacy. Kaya ang mga tulad nila, WALANG KARAPATANG MAGING PANGULO O LIDER NG BANSA", Prof. Tranquilino started.

Explaining where the President is coming from when he remarked about the incident, the Professor said: "You don’t declare war or send combat ships against another nation, big or small, unless you have all the right information about an issue and all the correct reasons to do so. A wrong and miscalculated move may end in grave consequences for the entire nation."

Tackling what VP Robredo mentioned, the UP Professor said: "You don’t demand (as the Fake VP demands) that foreign nationals face trial in our country without being in possession of all the evidence of wrongdoing."

While he justified the tough-talking president's move by saying that his "action (or inaction as claimed by his critics in the opposition) is not a show of weakness nor disregard" for the 22 fishermen's welfare but rather, a "measured concern for the welfare of the greater good."

The same also reacted to Sen. Ping Lacson's statement and said: "And we may actually be better off heartbroken (as Lacson puts it) than suffer tremendous casualties in a useless & recklessly-initiated war."

Below is Dr. Francisco Pascual Tranquilino's complete Facebook post below:

ROBREDO, HONTIVEROZ, POE, LACSON: MGA WALANG KARAPATANG MAGING PANGULO O LIDER NG BANSA.

These people are ignorant when it comes to international diplomacy. Kaya ang mga tulad nila, WALANG KARAPATANG MAGING PANGULO O LIDER NG BANSA.

You don’t declare war or send combat ships against another nation, big or small, unless you have all the right information about an issue and all the correct reasons to do so. A wrong and miscalculated move may end in grave consequences for the entire nation.

You don’t demand (as the Fake VP demands) that foreign nationals face trial in our country without being in possession of all the evidence of wrongdoing.

And yes, it is a “small maritime” incident, which may even be accidental, compared to what could happen if we opted for more aggressive and confrontational actions.

President Duterte’s action (or inaction as claimed by his critics in the opposition) is not a show of weakness nor disregard for the welfare of the 22 fishermen but actually a measured concern for the welfare of the greater good.

And we may actually be better off heartbroken (as Lacson puts it) than suffer tremendous casualties in a useless & recklessly-initiated war.

THE PRESIDENT’S ACTION WAS ACTUALLY WISE AND SENSIBLE, IT IS NOT FECKLESS AND SPINELESS (as Hontiveroz foolishly claims). IT IS NOT RECKLESS, RATHER IT IS THE MOST RESPONSIBLE COURSE OF ACTION BY A RESPONSIBLE LEADER OF A NATION.

Below is President Duterte quoted verbatim re: Reed Bank incident:

“In this matter of that incident na nagbanggaan ‘yung mga fishing boats. You read a lot about fumigation, anger, kung ano-ano na lang

You know, we are ruled --- as a civilized nation and as members of the community --- by the laws that govern whatever happen in the seas as we go along our business.

There will be rules for a military confrontation. There will be rules for a mistaken identity attack. There is a rule for fishermen’s boats. There is a rule for an aircraft carrier bumping a banca boat, a fishing boat.

Alam mo, with all the --- ‘yung galit and one national officials, even urging sending the grey ships, warships doon sa China Sea. Alam mo, gusto ko ‘yan. Kung ako lang ang papiliin niyo, gusto ko ng action. But I am not in my boyhood age anymore.

Pero ‘yang --- ‘yang nangyari diyan sa banggaan, that is a maritime incident. Huwag kayong maniwala diyan sa mga politiko na bobo na. Gusto papunta ‘yung --- papuntahin ‘yung Navy. You do not send grey ships there. Banggaan lang ng barko ‘yan. Do not make it worse because there is a --- that’s a fertile ground for…

Alam ninyong mga sundalo miscommunication ‘yan, patay na. And we are not yet as ready. And we can never be ready in a nuclear war. Because in a nuclear war kung bitawan lahat ‘yan, Earth will dry up and we will all be destroyed and that is the end of everything.

So ‘yung tamang-tama lang pang-depensa sa atin, bilihin ko lahat. Pero magsabi tayo ready --- your guns are cocked to go to war? That’s the most stupid thing I can… Wala, pagda --- paliparin lahat ‘yan nuclear --- sundalo kayo.

Dalawa lang ang bomba tumuyo ang Japan. Eh but --- bitawan ‘yan almost 1,000 warheads? ‘Di anong mangyari? ‘Di walang tutubo dito, pati isda ubos. Maritime incident is a maritime incident. It is best investigated.

And I do not now issue statement because there is no investigation and there is no result. Then the only thing that we can do is to wait and give the other party the right to be heard. Importante ‘yan eh.

O China, marami ka mang ibinigay --- ano ba dito ang totoo? O tapos ang nangyari ganito then let us sort --- ano ang ma-sort natin diyan. Pagka ano ‘yung totoo then bago tayo mag-ano…

Dalawang bangka lang ‘yan. Now you go there and create a tension. I said hindi ako g*** na Presidente na papayag nang ganun. If we have to die, we must have to die in the correct way and to die with dignity. Hindi ‘yang basta bangga ka bangga ka lang diyan.”
