She mentioned how there was a time in 2012, when the country ranked 92nd according to the United Nations in a similar survey, with some surveys ranking the Philippines at 67th in 2013.
She said that this only means that the Philippines is more optimistic under Duterte.
"If I were an international journalist, I'd look at this shocking disparity of a poll result and the image being painted in the media and say, "PUMUNTA KA NGA DITO MARIA RESSA AT IPALIWANAG MO ITO," she said.
She then attacked the Liberal Party which has served as the face of Duterte's opposition.
"Seriously, the third happiest country in the world is ruled by a murderous dictator? So they would now discredit the normal Filipino by making him look stupid for being happy under a stupid, rude thug? The opposition should attack Gallup for its lies. How dare they say the Filipino is happy! How dare they negate all the negative press that's already been paid for. O sya, happy happy na tayo sa news na ito while Trillanes scrambles for yet another useless pebble to throw at this amazing administration," she said.
Gallup International’s 41st Annual Global End of Year Survey, an opinion poll conducted among 55 countries, ranked the Philippines third-happiest country, after Fiji and Colombia.
This survey showed that PH obtained a net score of +84 in the happiness index. It had a net score of +40 in the hope index, ranking it 9th among the optimist countries.
Presidential Communications Secretary Martin Andanar said, “Even in the bleakest and [direst] moments of our history as a nation, Filipinos have shown their immense capacity for hope and happiness."
