The death of 22 year-old UP student Josephine Anne Lapira who allegedly had herself associated with comunists, is an example to the youth to not involve themselves with such people, said PinoyNewz, a Facebook page.

Lapira was 22 years old and a 4th year BS Biochemistry Student in UP Manila while she also served as Deputy Secretary General of GABRIELA National Alliance of Women.



“Violence against women does not choose its victim,” Lapira had said in one of her speeches as deputy secretary general of Gabriela Youth Manila.

Lapira was a also a student leader, serving as a UP College of Arts and Sciences representative to the University Student Council from 2016 to 2017.

"Ilan pang mga kabataan at kinabukasan ang masasayang sa mga komunistang nagtatago sa Legal na organisasyon gaya ng GABRIELA upang masisisigaw sa daan hanggang malinlang para sumapi sa NPA?" the blog post read.

Lapira was the 15th fatality in the encounter between New People’s Army rebels and the Philippine Air Force in Nasugbu Batangas on Tuesday evening.



According to army and police officials, died while being treated in a hospital. She was one of the five female rebels who died on the encounter on Wednesday.

An earlier report identified Lapira as Ella Rodriguez, the name authorities believed she used as an alias.

The girl allegedly wanted to be a medical doctor.

"KABATAAN, wag sayangin ang buhay at pinag-aralan sa isang grupong ikaw ang ginagawang puhunan," the blog post read.
