Writer Krizette Laureta Chu in her Facebook account, said that the mainstream media can be cruel and shared the story of a widow of a soldier in Marawi, whose words were twisted by a journalist.

Chu shared the story of Ligaya Cornito-Serrano who also happened to post on Facebook how her message was wrongfully conveyed.

"Please naman dont take advantage of our situation... We love the president more than you know..he is incomparable...

Please stop using us... If it's not for the good of the country...wag na lang po kaung lumapit sa amin," she added.

Meanwhile Chu revealed that said journalist was Jeff Canoy of ABS-CBN.

Chu said that mainstream media can be "shitty".

"The widows say sometimes the only thing that stops them from having depression is the thought that the President loves them. Tapos istre stress niyo Ng ganito? MAKONSENSYA NAMAN KAYO."

The details of said interview were not disclosed by either post.

A story by ABS-CBN featuring Serrano however, was published on July 26,2017.

Ligaya was the wife of Corporal Benito Serrano of the Philippine Army’s 4th Light Reaction Company and they were just starting a family when the Marawi siege happened.

She was quoted as saying, “Hindi ko ma-explain. Nagsisigaw ako ng time na iyon. Tinatawag ko ang pangalan niya,” Ligaya said when asked about the moment she heard the news of her husband’s death.

“Iniisip ko I have to be strong kasi buntis ako. Maliit ang baby ko. Hindi pa totally siya nagsi-sink in sa akin,” she added.
