Mark Lopez, a businessman, in his Facebook account said, "Leila de Lima receiving an award called the “Prize For Freedom” from the Liberal International is like Maria Ressa receiving Journalist of the Year accolade from Rappler."
He added, "Alam mo yung tipong sila sila na nga lang naglolokohan pa"
De Lima was awarded this year's Liberal International's Prize for Freedom, the "highest human rights honor" given out by the global federation of liberal politicial parties, according to ABS-CBN.
De Lima, a vocal critic of the incumbent administration of President Rodrigo Duterte is detained at the Philippine National Police's Custodial Center in Camp Crame, Quezon City after allegations that she was involved in the drug trade during her term as Justice Secretary during the incumbency of President Benigno Aquino III.
De Lima has become the face of the Liberal Party's opposition towards Duterte's war against drugs for the first few months of his presidency.
The Liberal International has as its member, the Liberal Party of the Philippines.
Lopez even hit Senator Antonio Trillanes, who was aiding De Lima in her accusations against Duterte before she was detained.
"Although may bulong bulungan na si Trilling dapat yung bibigyan ng Liberal International pero epic fail daw kasi sa interview portion dahil ang sagot nya sa tanong na “Do you espouse liberalism?” eh ang sagot daw ay “Ah eh I am Nacionalista kasi”" he said.
So he said, the LP, left with no choice, gave the recognition to De Lima instead.
"Oh well... that’s life Leila. At least may award ka na Prize for FREEDOM na puede mo i display sa KULUNGAN mo."
