Netizens castigate LP stalwart for controversial tweet about Honeylet Avanceña

Netizens on social media lambasted Vicky Garchitorena, Ayala Corporation consultant and former stalwart of the Liberal Party as Vice President for Women, after she posted a tweet about Honeylet Avanceña, President Rodrigo Duterte's partner.

Garchitorena tweeted by sharing GMA New's article headlined "Honeylet Avanceña to host social events for ASEAN leaders' spouses".



She captioned, "Hindi na Nakakahiya na ang host ay isang kabit?"

The post made on October 24 has garnered 461 replies,mostly by angered netizens.

Netizens were irked by the statement, and tweeted in return.

"Mas nakakahiya ka, and tanda mo na wala kang pinagkatandaan. mapang husga! ang perfect ng tingin mo sa sarili mo," an Alexis Arturo Anza said.

"Babae ka pero ang baba ng tingin mo sa kapwa mo? Perpekto kaba? Is that how you empower yor fellow woman?" he added.

"Diba nag host din sa ASEAN ang Presidential Sister dati na papalit palit din nang lalaki...At least ito si PRRD lang ang lalaki sa buhay," said Newel Llamo.



"Ang pamilya duterte nga walang sinasabing masama tungkol kay honeylet kaya kayong mga naninira sa kanya ay walang karapatang manghusga!," said anothe netizen.

"Mas nakakahiya ang di alam ang difference ng kabit from common law wife. May section po yan sa family code," said Genia Lavado Ferrer.


Duterte's partner was defended, by netizens claiming that the President's first marriage was annulled and thus Honeylet is his common-law wife.

Avacena and Duterte started their relationship in mid-1990's and together they have a daughter, Veronica.

Avancena will be the official hostess of the spouses of heads of government attending the 31st ASEAN Summit and related meetings next month.

She will be hosting the Gala Dinner on November 12 and the Spouses' program on the 13th.
