Mark Lopez, an alumnus of the University of Sto. Tomas and a vocal social media enthusiast, gave a rebuttal to journalist Karen Davila after she criticized Davao City Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte in her radio program.
She urged Duterte to apear before the senate for the investigation of his alleged involvement in drug smuggling.
Senators have refused to make Duterte attend the hearing as his involvement was just alleged through "hearsay".
“Bakit kung sino yung mga ordinaryong indibidwal, kailangang sumipot sa Senado.. Bakit po kayo[Paulo Duterte] hindi pwede?,” Davila said.
Lopez,a supporter of President Rodrigo Duterte in his Facebook page claimed a text message sent by an anonymous person to him revealed that Davila's plush condominium unit in Makati is being paid for by unsettled DBP loans now managed by consultants of Senator Antonio Trillanes.
"With this, I demand that since your name was mentioned in the said text message, you should immediately appear in the forthcoming Senate Ethics complaint procedure against Trillanes that will be tackled soon," he said.
The senate ethics complaint against Trillanes was passed by Senator Dick Gordon on Monday, after Trillanes accused him and the senate blue ribbon committee of lawyering for President Rodrigo Duterte and protecting his son from being investigated on.
"Again, your name was mentioned repeatedly and this is more than enough to compel you to make the said appearance," Lopez said.
"This demand is valid and enforceable based on your own definition of how a person should act on the basis of hearsay," he added.
Lopez said that it was not a personal request, but he trusts that Davila will set n example based her conviction.
Read full open letter below:
Dear Karen Davila,
I have received a forwarded text message sent by a friend of a relative of a neighbor of a classmate of mine in elementary.
The said text message said that the plush and very exclusive condo unit in Makati where you reside is actually being paid for by unsettled DBP loans that is now said to be managed by the highly paid consultants of Senator Trillanes.
With this, I demand that since your name was mentioned in the said text message, you should immediately appear in the forthcoming Senate Ethics complaint procedure against Trillanes that will be tackled soon.
Again, your name was mentioned repeatedly and this is more than enough to compel you to make the said appearance.
This demand is valid and enforceable based on your own definition of how a person should act on the basis of hearsay.
And this is not personal ha.
We trust that you will be setting a good example based on your conviction.
Thank you and regards,
A Netizen
