Josef Andrade’s Facebook post went viral when he suggested that the P678M budget of the Commission on Human Rights (CHR) should go to the Public Attorneys Office (PAO). According to his post that accumulated 450 shares, he explained how PAO currently operates CHR’s function.
“You want to know who is doing CHR's job now? - the PAO. They are pro-active, their head thinks outside of the box and works with actual human rights victims. They investigate and help in filing cases. They do not use Human rights victims as props nor stage rallies for them - they work,” he said.
“Their head was also able to bring victims to the attention of this administration. They did not work to have it ousted, instead, they sought and got this administration's help,” he added.
Many netizens were in favor of this suggestion.
Meanwhile, the Congress has already approved CHR’s P1,000 budget for 2018 in contrast with CHR’s Chairman Chito Gascon’s request of P678-million.
