Foreign political expert: 'Hontiveros can cause more innocent people to get hurt or lose life'
Sen. Risa Hontiveros and Amir Assadollahi
Amir Assadollahi, a Canadian political analyst, opined that Senator Risa Hontiveros has failed to focus on the rationale behind government policies and the intent of politicians, her judgment being "clouded" by her own party and ambitions.

Assadollahi, a vocal supporter of President Rodrigo Duterte, also commented on the shallow reporting of media in the country which according to him, portrays politics in a level where there is no deeper understanding of policy making.

"They do not look into the process of making those policies, the details, the steps and stages that lead to development or need for making the policies. They do not even talk about the social problems that caused the problems, but only focus of the policies or politicians who make or push for those policies. In a sense they have sense of focus but no awareness," he said.

Assadollahi added that Hontiveros, who was a television journalist and news anchor, has the same level of understanding of Philippine politics.

"She is too focused on policy and politicians who push for the policies that her sense of awareness and judgment is badly clouded by the sense of focus she has for her political party and her political ambitions without even paying attention to details and looking things from other angles. She constantly has demonstrated that she is unaware of thing or maybe is unwilling to show she has awareness on why the made policies were needed, but as a career politician with personal ambitions a limited ability to want to look at things from different angles, she only sees what is in front of her two feet."

“Her subjective sense of focus could cause bigger problems and cause more innocent people to get hurt or lose life. I call that an example of total irresponsibility,” Assadollahi added.

Hontiveros on the Senate hearing on Wednesday insisted that there is a state policy on drug deaths.

“I am not a genius but I know that while two deaths do not make a policy, thousands of dead, without remorse, regret, or action from the government, do. Eight thousand to 13,000 people have already died in this bloody war on drugs, mostly from the ranks of the poor,” she said.

“Through his words and endless provocation, President (Rodrigo) Duterte set into motion the killing of thousands. He has smeared the image of the police force. He inspired this culture of killing and impunity,” she added.

The statements followed after President Duterte called the senator "stupid" after her active participation and criticisms towards the administration.

The Senate has been investigating the deaths of minors Kian Delos Santos and Carl Arnaiz, both linked to Duterte's drug war.

Below are excerpts of Amir Assadollahi's commentary:

I look at the Philippines and yet see that both the mainstream corporate news in the Philippines (connected to certain groups) and the mainstream international corporate news (who use those Philippines news agencies for their source of news) are focused the policy itself and not aware on how the policy came to be and why it was needed to exist in the first place, nor they are showing awareness on "relationships between things, the cause and effects, the way things follow certain patterns and processes" without having a wider perspective about the policy itself.

They do not look into the process of making those policies, the details, the steps and stages that lead to development or need for making the policies. They do not even talk about the social problems that caused the problems, but only focus of the policies or politicians who make or push for those policies. In a sense they have sense of focus but no awareness.

That could be true for politicians as well (meaning, focused but not aware) - an example of that is Senator Risa Hontiveros of the minority seat of the government in the Philippines ("a television journalist and news anchor who having worked for two television networks in the country, IBC (Headline Trese) and GMA Network (GMA Network News)" who later became a career politician). She is too focused on policy and politicians who push for the policies that her sense of awareness and judgment is badly clouded by the sense of focus she has for her political party and her political ambitions without even paying attention to details and looking things from other angles.

She constantly has demonstrated that she is unaware of thing or maybe is unwilling to show she has awareness on why the made policies were needed, but as a career politician with personal ambitions a limited ability to want to look at things from different angles, she only sees what is in front of her two feet - just like the example I give about people have glued their gaze at their cellphone not being aware about their surrounding causing accidents or death - she too is doing the same thing that is already causing deaths and accidents (problems that can easily be avoided if people became more aware) and her subjective sense of focus could cause bigger problems and cause more innocent people to get hurt or lose life. I call that an example of total irresponsibility.

I share many things on my FB wall for my audience, because I want them to develop a wider angle in looking at things, and gain stronger observation skills and transfer those skills for understanding the things that interests them or concerns them. I learned to develop interests for many things, and that has helped me to be able to do many things at the same time, transferring one skill or knowledge into another with relative ease, but I always want to improve myself, as learning is a continues development. I hope my audience would aim to do a continues self-development so that the interactions they have and the society they live in is in constant state of development and improvement.
