The said event will mark his fifth death anniversary, his widow and Vice President Leni Robredo announced.
Jesse Robredo served as Secretary of the Interior and Local Government in the administration of President Benigno Aquino III from 2010 until his death in 2012.
Meanwhile, President Rodrigo Duterte issued an executive order for the second time declaring August 18 a special non-working holiday in Naga City to allow residents to observe Jesse’s death anniversary, highlighted by the museum’s opening.
“It contains a wealth not only about Jesse as a person or Jesse as a public servant, but also serves as a repository of many of the good work and best practices that he initiated,” President Duterte said.
Jesse, who died in a plane crash in Masbate in 2012, built his career in government service for 19 years as mayor of Naga City. He has been known for his leadership that inspired people to do their best. However, a lot of controversies also came out these past few months relating him as otherwise.
Those allegations against Jesse was denied by his widow, Leni. "The so-called “Naga Leaks” linking the late Jesse Robredo to illegal gambling and drugs was created only because critics failed to silence me," Vice President Leni Robredo said.
