DLSU History professor favors CHR's zero budget: 'Lipas na ang panahon ng CHR'

The Commission on Human Rights was subjected to public wrath and scrutiny after condemning Pres. Rodrigo Duterte on his policies on the war on drugs.



The Commission cried foul over and over as the drug lords and pushers were being liquidated despite the fact that it was the President's order to exterminate as soon as possible the perpetrators, especially those involved in illegal drugs.

As Duterte's reputation got soiled in the international scene because of the CHR, Sen. Trillanes, and other anti-Duterte parties' plot, however, the trust and approval ratings of the president remained high. The president also gained support from the different groups of youth, social media bloggers, as well as politicians and private individuals.

Van Ybiernas, a DLSU Professor, and a Historian back up the idea of zero allocation of the public funds to the CHR. Ybiernas said that CHR's time has passed. Gone were the days when CHR has the power to demand the violators of human rights to pay for the damage they caused to the victims.

Ybiernas added that Duterte's government was so effective that all of its agencies work with good governance.

Seriously bakit natin kailangan ang CHR?

Abuso ng opisyales ng pamahalaan? Andyan ang Ombudsman kahit bugok si Aling Conching. DoJ pwede rin.

Abuso ng elected officials? Ombudsman at DoJ pa rin. Pwede rin ang taumbayan sa eleksyon.

Abuso ng Constitutional bodies? Impeachment ang solusyon.

Abuso ng SC, pangulo at bise? Impeachment din.

Lahat naman yan gumagana. Ano pa silbi ng CHR?

Kung may CHR man, dapat pribadong sektor na ito, hindi na pera ng pamahalaan.

At dahil cha-cha lang makaka-abolish sa CHR, tama na rin ang zero budget sa tingin ko.

Lipas na ang panahon ng CHR. Hindi na natin ito kailangan dahil gumagana na naman ang mga ahensya ng pamahalaan na nagbabantay sa pag-abuso ng pamahalaan mismo.

Isa pa, wala naman ngipin ang CHR. Namamahiya lang. So dapat talaga nasa pribadong sektor na ito. Hindi na kailangan pera ng taumbayan ang gastusin sa pagpapasarap ng mga opisyales ng CHR!
