We often read or hear a story about a soldier who lost his life defending the country. But this story is unusual for the two soldier brothers simultaneously died during the encounter with the rebels, fulfilling their sworn duties to protect the Philippines.
“Meet Marine Corporal Mauricio Tagoon of Southern Leyte. He was hit by an RPG shrapnel from the ISIS inspired Maute group while his platoon was maneuvering to clear a vantage position in Marawi.
He opted to remain in the front after he was treated and cleared by the military doctors,” stated in the Civil Relations Service AFP Facebook page.
The following day was unfortunate for his brother Army Lt. Raulito Tagoon died in the military operations while engaging a crossfire with the Abu Sayaff Group in Patikul, Sulu.
With so much dedication, he promised to return in the battlefield after he will pay his last respect to his deceased brother. Corporal Tagoon was in the frontline during the said encounter.
"Sir, I will go home and will pay my last respects to my brother and mourn with my family, but I will be back ASAP in Marawi to join my platoon and be with my other brothers," Said Raulito after being pulled out in the warzone.
“It is my honor to fight alongside you Marine! My condolences and my deepest sympathies to your family. You and your brother Raulito are the real heroes that our nation should be very very proud of! Saludo ako sa inyo! Hurrrraaaahh!!!,” said Major Rowan Rimas PN(M). Major Rimas shared the story of the two mighty soldiers.
