Still, Trillanes’ interview on Hardtalk was a taint on his political career. In the interview, he was very determined to soil Duterte’s reputation in international media but he ended up revealing his true intentions. He has been a joke and some also thought that his political career was greatly hurt on the said interview.
Dan Jimenez, a PMA Alumnus Masikap Class of 1977 wrote an open letter to Trillanes. Jimenez said that Trillanes had all the chance to expose what he deemed the wrongdoings of President Duterte. A rare opportunity like that, being interviewed by BBC, an international media network, with a large number of audience, Trillanes has the chance to state his factual reasons on why he contradicts the President.
Jimenez also said that what he has was pure rant and hatred. “Your diatribes just made clear that you run on hatred. Nothing else. You professed Lascanas' words were the truth. One who Senator Ping Lacson and other independent minded senators called a perjurer, a total liar. Your arguments are based on conjectures if not outright falsehoods. Most addicts are using marijuana and not shabu? 75% approval rating is bad? Most Filipinos do not know what is going on? Where are you getting your facts? Is there a depository somewhere in the yellow headquarters where such are being manufactured?, ” Jimenez stated.
Jimenez also said that Trillanes failed to convince the ICC on his accusations against the president. Jimenez also reminded Trillanes that PMAyers must have to look back on their Alma Mater and pay respect to who they were before and who they must be.
Jimenez said that Trillanes should be a good example to the cadets, being Trillanes was a chairman of the PMA’s Honor Committee. “ A position I believe is the most important in the Cadet Corps. Yes, more important than the Baron. Because as such, you were the chief implementor of how cadets should conduct themselves before their peers and before themselves. Honor. Nothing matters after that.”
Jimenez also added that the citizens aren’t dumb, stupid and ignorant. Trillanes must listen to the people who bet their trust onto him. Jimenez said that it is not late for Trillanes to straighten up the wrong step that he took.

Dear Senator Trillanes:
You had an international audience with BBC's Hardtalk as hosted by Stephen Sackur. It was your chance to justify all the anti-Duterte rhetorics you have been mouthing even before the elections. It was your shining moment. You had everybody's attention. It was your free world air time for the truth. Yet, you blew it. Big time.
Your diatribes just made clear that you run on hatred. Is there a depository somewhere in the yellow headquarters where such are being manufactured?
You were given a chance to justify yourself. By all standards, you fell flat on your face. Still you had the gumption to invoke the ICC as if you had an air tight case. See if the ICC will give you the time of day now.
A long time ago you accused General Angie Reyes that he has no honor to protect. General Reyes took it to heart and took his life.
At the end of the day, we PMAyers, look back to our dear Alma Mater and pay reverence to who we were once and must be. You were the Chairman of the Honor Committee. A position I believe is the most important in the Cadet Corps. Yes, more important than the Baron. Because as such, you were the chief implementor of how cadets should conduct themselves before their peers and before themselves. Honor. Nothing matters after that.
It is not for me or anybody else to make a judgement on who you are. That is for you and God. But listen to the voices of the people you are suppose to represent. They are not stupid, they are not dumb, they are not ignorant.
It is never too late to make amends nor to rectify one's mistakes. Truth always sets one free. As once the Honor Committee Chairman, you know that.
I end with this strain:
"May thy sons ever be, men of Integrity
Courage and Loyalty, PMA Oh Hail to thee!"
