Lea Salonga sympathizes with a Mindanaoan friend: “I would take her word over anyone else”
Former Miss Saigon star and a very successful singer no less than Miss Lea Salonga shared the post of her friend Maia  Villapañe about the situation in Mindanao, whom she met in New York during her Broadway days.

In Villapañe’s Facebook post, she narrated growing up in Mindanao, hitting the highways with numerous military checkpoints from Cagayan De Oro to Surigao. She also said that the presence of the military forces gives them safety and security from the extremist groups who are causing insurgencies in Mindanao.

Villapañe also stated that they were ‘tired’ living in such situation and wanted to witness the termination of extremists movements in Mindanao that is why they voted for Pres. Duterte and supports the Martial Law in Mindanao.
