Atty Trixie Cruz-Angeles, one of the lawyers who initiated the impeachment complaint vs Vice President Leni Robredo defended her team when Puwersa ng Bayaning Atleta Representative Jericho Nograles complained that his name was included in the draft without his consent.
Nograles said, "There is a group of people who want me to endorse something I have not read. And for me, that is improper at best."
He added that he didn't know anyone from the team and that the draft was just left in his office.
Angeles in response said that it would not be possible for Nograles to accuse them of misrepresentation as such would require pretense, communication and intent to gain.
As the suspended lawyer said that they did not pretend to have his endorsement and that was shown was a draft made after someone told them he is interested.
She said that a third party informed them that he was interested and so they went to his office.
She said they did not tell anyone that he was a part of it, nor did they send a complaint with his name on it.
"Did we try to gain an advantage by doing so? What advantage? We are filing this on our own, with no sponsors and no expectation of reward. We are filing it because it is the right thing to do," she said.
"We apologize if there was a misunderstanding. However, there was NO MISREPRESENTATION. If his name appeared there, it was only for purposes of convenience. And if he was to say no -- which he clearly did -- then it was simple enough to remove his name. Which we did," she added.
