Bacoor City Mayor Lani Mercado on Monday gave her apology for tweeting about the death of former first lady and now Ilocos Norte Representative Imelda Marcos.
Revilla was among the people who were misled by a false news that the first lady has passed away.
The mayor tweeted, “Our condolences to the Marcos family. It was a pleasure and a privilege to work with Cong. Imelda Romualdez Marcos."
When the 87-year-old Imelda Marcos was confirmed to be alive, Revilla deleted her tweet and tweeted an apology.
“I would like to apologize for my tweet which I have erased. I received a news break message informing the public about Mrs. Marcos,” Revilla said.
These tweets have since been taken down.
Revilla later on claimed that her account was hacked.
“My Twitter account was hacked. We are having it investigated,” Revilla said.
It was Imelda's daughter, Ilocos Norte Gov. Imee Marcos who reportedly said her mom was still alive.
