Int'l trade expert to Callamard: 'Look into crimes during Aquino's time, don't let LP use you'

International trade expert gave an open request to United Nations human rights rapporteur Agnes Callamard which asked her not only to look at the human rights violations during the term of President Rodrigo Duterte, but also that of former President Benigno Aquino III.

MJ Quiambao Reyes in her Facebook account  asked the rapporteur to "not let the losing party use you," referring to Aquino's Liberal Party.



She said that she really hoped that Callamard would also look at the killings then which was caused by the incompetence of the government, one that is being fixed by the new government.

She said that the economic growth that the previous administration can be attributed to the increase in population, but the progress was felt by the top one percent.

Reyes listed down the statistics of the crime incidence then, noting that the Crime Solution Efficiency Rate dropped from 89.86% in 2004 to 28.56% in 2013.

Before Duterte, there were 12,352 murders and homicides in 2010,  11,864 in 2011, 11,506 in 2012, 16,160 in 2013, 13,105 in 2014, and 12,481 in 2015.

 Riding in Tandem Victims had a 65% increase from 2010 to 2013,  Rape Cases (reported) : 92% increase from 2010 to 2014 where 70% of the rape victims were children.



Total Reported Crimes had a 380% increase from 2011 to 2014.

"Our country was in a loathsome situation. It was because of that situation and the gross incompetence and indifference of previous admin that the Filipino people clamored for a Duterte. It was largely due to the above situation that the then Mayor Duterte decided to run for President," Reyes said.

"Now, our current government is moving heaven and earth to try to clean up the huge mess that the past admin either brought or left behind," she added.

Callamard was seen in the country on Thursday, attending a celebration of the Commission on Human Rights.
