Social media activist and international relations expert Sass Rogando Sasot posted on her Facebook page "For the Motherland" her reaction to the bashing of Mocha Uson by actress G. Toengi after the former was appointed Assistant Secretary of the Presidential Communications and Operations Office.
Toengi reportedly said that Uson's appointment by President Rodrigo Duterte as Asec on Social Media would help spread the culture of hate, fake news and propaganda.
Uson is known to have campaigned for Duterte when he ran in the May 2016 operatios through her blog in Facebook, "The Mocha Uson Blog".
Sasot tackled the actress' claim.
"Hate - Di na kailangang ma-appoint ni Mocha para magalit ang mga Filipino WORLDWIDE sa pambabalahura ng mga pulitikong walang ibang ginawa kundi magpataba ng bulsa."
She also questioned Toengi's definition of "fake news".
"Fake news - ano bang fake news ang pinapakalat ni Mocha? Asaan ba? Sa million niyang na i-post ilan ang "fake"?" she said.
Sasot, who is a graduate student based in the Hagues, also said:
"Propaganda - dioskopo. Ang trabaho ni Mocha ngayon as PCOO Asec on Social Media ay magpakalat ng perspective ng administration through social media. Ang tanga naman ni PRRD kung ang i-hire nya as PCCOO Asec on Social Media ay iyong magpakalat ng paninira sa Duterte Administration'"
Uson's appointment has been criticized by many for the novelty of a former sexy star with no high-profile educational background and government experience to be given high position.
Despite all the criticisms, the Asec refused to attack, but claimed she takes the bashing as a challenge to do well on her job.
Duterte defended his decision and said that it is rightful that he paid Uson back for her work in campaigning for him.
