Blogger Mocha Uson was appointed by President Rodrigo Duterte as assistant secretary of the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) on Tuesday, May 8, 2017.
Mocha, a vocal staunch supporter of Duterte on social media, was then appointed as board member of the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB).
Following her appointment, many were happy about it as Mocha's influence would really help to promote the accomplishments of President Rody Duterte.
However, not all are agreeable with the new government position of Mocha. One of them is Mariel de Leon, who recently won the title as Bb. Pilipinas International 2017.
On her twitter account, she said "I love my country so it breaks my heart to know someone like her got a position in the govt.”
She added, “There are so many other unbiased, educated, and respected (and respectful) people who deserve her place. There are so many other unbiased, educated, and respected (and respectful) people who deserve her place.”
Fearless netizens came to Mocha's defense, slammed the beauty queen, said that she should not give comments especially for issue about politics.
One netizen said "Sayang naman si Mariel de Leon. And you think you became respectful with your comment. You just used your voice to hurt someone. How in the world will you unite a world in the international arena with your tweets? Tell me, you tell someone as biased and disrespectful yet you are promoting what? I am not saying you don't deserve an opinion, I am saying that you just prove me that you don't deserve a title as beauty queen as you just open how ugly your mouth and thought to someone."
Another netizen said: "Well, well, well...seem to me that our new Miss International-Philippines Mariel De Leon (daughter of actors Christopher De Leon and Sandy Andolong) just exposed herself as a BIGOT. Her prejudice against Mocha Uson reeks! And it's marring her physical beauty. Sayang. I won't be sympathetic if her tirade against Mocha Uson costs her the REAL Miss International crown. Say goodbye to about 5 million potential text votes for you during the main pageant, Baby Girl! KARMA is a bitch, remember?"
Here are some of the comments of the netizens disagreeing about the remarks of Mariel de Leon:
