EX-AFP Chief Roy Cimatu is the new DENR secretary
After the rejection of Gina Lopez as Environment secretary, President Rodrigo Duterte has appointed Roy Cimatu as replacement for the vacated post.

Roy Cimatu served as the AFP chief in 2002; appointed by Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

The appointment of Cimatu was confirmed by Special Assistant to the President Christopher "Bong" Go on Monday on May 8.

The palace welcomed Cimatu's appointment, saying he is sure to "faithfully serve" the country's interests.

"We are confident that Secretary Cimatu shall faithfully serve the interest of the country and the Filipino people in his capacity as the new DENR Secretary," Palace spokesman Ernesto Abella said in a statement.
