DLSU history professor: “Ramos should pay for his actions during Marcos Martial law”
“Ramos should pay for his actions”

This was what History professor from De La Salle University, Van Ybiernas said regarding former president Fidel Ramos’ implementation of the Martial Law during the reign of President Ferdinand Marcos in the 1970s.

The abuses of the Philippine Constabulary (PC) and Integrated National Police (INP) were recorded to have the most cases of human rights violations. This all happened during the watch of Ramos as he led the implementation of Martial Law during Marcos’ regime.

Ybiernas said that Ramos should be held responsible for this as he was the former chief of the two mentioned branches of the AFP.

While Ramos disapproves of Duterte’s declaration of Martial Law in Mindanao these days, Ybiernas added that Ramos only turned and switched sides on the issue due to opportunities presented to him during Marcos’ regime but he cannot erase and change his role in history because history cannot be cheated.

Check out full post of Professor Van Ybiernas:
