Atty. Paula Defensor-Knack, an international lawyer and a sister of the late Senator Miriam Santiago, criticized Magdalo Rep. Gary Alejano as someone who is ignorant ot the Law on Evidence.
This after Alejano filed an impeachment case versus President Rodrigo Duterte junked by the House of Representatives after deciding that the complaint was lacking in evidence and substance.
Alejano, according to Knack reportedly presented his evidence by use of articles from various publications such as Inquirer, Rappler and bank records.
Knack said to Alejano, "The ICC deals with mass atrocities, not broken hearts like yours and Trillanes. Your evidence is very funny! Inquirer, Rappler, bank records you don't have?"
The decision on the complaint was weighed heavily on Alejano's admission that he did not have any personal knowledge of Duterte ordering the killings.
House Majority leader Rodolfo Farinas lambasted Alejano for his confession and said an ethics case may be filed against him.
“Clearly, it’s not in his personal knowledge. That is the defect here… You are introducing statements under oath, these are not your own. Lalabas hearsay po ito,” Fariñas said in a heated debate with Alejano during the hearing.
"Sinong sisihin mo eh yung video nagpapakita na HINDI NINYO ALAM ANG LAW ON EVIDENCE, PERIOD. Akala nyo madali mag-comply sa batas ha," Knack said.
She also bashed Alejano for writing that he filed his complaint "On behalf of the Filipino people" when sixteen million voted for Duterte in the elections.
"Ano ALEJANO, sinulat mo sa IMPEACHMENT COMPLAINT MO that it is being filed "on behalf of the people of the republic of the philippines"??????????? SINO NAGSABI SA YO?" she said.
"Hampasin ka namin ng panlinis sa kisame e," Knack added.
