The Filipino people want Agnes Callamard to be declared as Persona Non Grata

Dr. Agnes Callamard, the Special Rapporteur on extrajudicial, summary or arbitrary executions at the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, visited our country for an academic conference.

Callamard participated a policy forum at the University of Philippines. During her speech, she said that that war on drugs campaign of the government is not effective and will only make the problem on illegal substance worse, instead of solving it.



This unsolicited opinion of Callamard sparked outrage from the majority of the Filipino people. They reacted with aversion on social media and wanted to declare Agnes Callamard as Persona Non Grata.

Persona Non Grata is a person or a diplomat who is unacceptable to the government to which he is sent.

A person can be declared persona non grata by a country when s/he is suspected for spying. A suspected spy will not be dealt with by the foreign country and will not be recognized as an authority of a representative country. [US Legal]
