Trillanes: ICC case vs Duterte, a welcome development
Senator Antonio Trillanes IV on Tuesday insisted that the case filled against President Rodrigo Duterte in the International Criminal Court is a welcome development.

He approved of the complaint filed by the lawyer of self-confessed hitman Edgar Matobato Jude Sabio which claimed that President Rodrigo Duterte has been ordering mass murders in the country.

"We would now have a truly independent body that could find out the whole truth behind the slaughter of thousands of Filipinos and prosecute those behind it to include the enablers who allowed or encouraged it to happen,” the senator said.

It was the camp of the senator that gave away to reporters copies of the 77-page communication submitted to the ICC office of the prosecutor.

Trillanes was also the one who offered support and security to Matobato as he testified against Duterte.

He also supported the self-confessed fomer assassin Arturo Lascanas who confirmed the existence of the Davao Death Squad while Duterte sat as Davao City Mayor.

Trillanes was mentioned in the complaint by Sabio as someone who has actively fought against the President, even quoting him calling Duterte a "mass murderer".
