Vice President Leni Robredo has not been given an official role in the ongoing 30th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) summit.
Even if it is tradition that the Vice President welcomes state guests, it was Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez III who welcomed Brunei’s Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah when he arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport on Wednesday night.
Robredo then was in a community of indigenous people in Cabanatuan City in Nueva Ecija yesterday.
Robredo has however, confirmed that she will be attending the private sector-initiated "Prosperity for All Summit," to be held in the City of Dreams in Paranaque City.
In the event, also among those who expressed their intent to attend are former president and now Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak and Thailand Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha.
Robredo was also not invited to the gala dinner to be hosted by President Duterte at the Sofitel Philippine Plaza in Pasay City.
Over 800 guests are expected in the event.
Duterte has invited Robredo to a dinner with his family, yet there is no final date for it yet, as both leaders are facing impeachment threats.
Robredo has denied all allegations of being involved in the case against Duterte, while Duterte encouraged his allies in Congress to stop the cases against his VP.
