De La Salle University History professor Van Ybiernas defended President Rodrigo Duterte against the people criticizing his state visit to the Middle East.

People accused the government of spending too much, and Ybiernas said that the gains from the visit are far greater than the money spent.

He said that the fact that it was a state visit means that the President is invited by other nations and thus the motion is part of upholding diplomacy.

Kunsabagay, haters gonna hate talaga," he said.

Ybiernas said that he was a former Overseas Filipino Worker and thus he knows that the Filipinos abroad were excited to see the President.

"Andaming taong inaanay ang utak. Layuan nyo po ang mga ganyan. Mahirap na. Baka mahawa kayo," Ybiernas said.
