Lawyer: Unlike Aquino, Duterte took responsility and apologized, "that is leadership"
Atty Trixie Cruz-Angeles commended President Rodrigo Duterte's apology for the administration's failure to rescue a German hostage kidnapped and murdered by the Abu Sayyaf.
Cruz-Angeles implied that Duterte had a genuine apology unseen in the administration before his led by former President Noynoy Aquino.
"Notice the unrehearsed messaging. The president takes responsibility for the failure to rescue the German national. He apologizes to the family and the government. Then he reiterates the policy to not give in to terrorists,"
The lawyer said that what Duterte showed was real leadership.
"No handwashing. No excuses. Apologies and reiteration of the government policy. Unlike a previous administration," she said.
"More of this please," she added.
Jurgen Kantner, the German national, was beheaded on Sunday after being ASG's captive for three months.
