Gina Lopez says Duterte is not plastic and truly cares for PH

Department of Environment and Natural Resources Secretary Gina Lopez in her Facebook page said that President Rodrigo Duterte deeply cares for the people and is not plastic.

"I am deeply and profoundly touched by the support of the president. This is what i know of the man. He is the real thing. Its not plastic at all. He deeeeeply cares for our people... and he deeeeeply cares for the country."

Lopez said that she is touched that Duterte stands by her "controversial decisions".

"My heart continues to resonate with his zero tolerance for corruption - and his stance at getting things done and done quickly.... he is the real thing,"

Lopez' appointment as Environment Secretary has yet to be confirmed by the Commission on Appointments.

Lopez recently closed down 23 mines. The Chamber of Mines called her "unfit" and "unqualified" for the post.

Duterte came to the defense of the Secretary on Saturday saying he would rather follow her decisions.


He said even if seventy million is being contributed to the country by the mining industry, the country can live without it.

"I would rather follow Gina... Get the 70 billion somewhere else and preserve our environment," Duterte said. "Huwag na tayong magbolahan," he quipped. "Maghanapbuhay na lang tayo ng iba," he said.

Lopez said she will continue to be Duterte's ally for all that is good and noble for the Philippines.
