Muntinlupa Regional Trial Court Branch 204 ordered the arrest of De Lima and two other men: Ronnie Dayan, her former bodyguard and lover, and Rafael Ragos, former Bureau of Corrections chief.

“After a careful evaluation of the herein Information and all the evidence presented during the preliminary investigation conducted in this case by the Department of Justice, Manila, the Court finds sufficient probable cause for the issuance of Warrants of Arrest against Leila M. de Lima, Rafael Marcos Z. Ragos and Ronnie Palisoc Dayan,” the warrant stated.

De Lima will be arrested for allegedly violating Section 5 of the Dangerous Drugs Act, which punished those involved in the “sale, trading, administration, dispensation, delivery, distribution, and transportation of illegal drugs.”

Rappler reported that the warrant was released just days after the justice department files the charges against the senator for her alleged receipt of the drug money from prisoners in exchange for her protecting them

Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre remarked on a TV program that the warrant of arrest for the lady senator was “inevitable”

“I am expecting it because we have filed a strong case against the Secretary-Senator and in her defense, she did not file a counter affidavit,” he told ANC.

De Lima launched an inquiry on the Davao Death Squad which is rumored to be in the control of President Rodrigo Duterte who was then the city’s mayor.

Since then, De Lima was considered to be one of the strongest critic of the Duterte government as she also quipped at the government’s war on drugs.
