Enrile's daughter to Leila: ‘I will pray for you but this was also done to my father'
Hours after the release of the arrest warrant for Senator Leila de Lima’s alleged involvement in the drug trade in the New Bilibid Prison, Katrina Ponce-Enrile, daughter to former Senator Juan Ponce-Enrile, offered her prayers for the lady senator who is waiting for pending arrest.
Ponce-Enrile shared a similar experience to that of De Lima having witnessed the arrest of her father in the Senate back in 1990.
She shared that the arrest was made "while the Senate was actually in session during former President Cory Aquino's term and it was then Secretary of Justice Franklin Drilon who manufactured a non existent crime of conspiracy complex with murder.”
JPE’s only daughter recalled how her father was first brought to the office of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) with the arrest team being led by Alfredo Lim.
She also shared that none of the senators during that time accompanied his father but then senator Erap Estrada.
Comparing it to de Lima’s plea to not be arrested in the Senate halls, Ponce-Enrile said, “It has been done before.”
De Lime has mentioned that she refused to be arrested in her home and in the Senate but will willingly surrender to the authorities “when the sun has risen.
"I have nothing against the lady Senator. I actually know how it feels being in that situation,” Ponce-Enrile said.
Last year, Katrina hit Senator Leila de Lima for “forgetting” that once upon a time, when she was justice secretary, she “shamed some political individuals.”
“Senator De Lima forgets that when she was the Secretary of Justice she knew full well that she shamed some political individuals, one of whom was my father and she did it without abandon,” said Katrina Ponce Enrile in a Facebook post.
