According to the Malacanang Palace, President Rodrigo Duterte will give access to online bloggers and personalities to some events involving the President.

Rappler reported that President Duterte gave in to the request of these bloggers whom he met during a courtesy-call-turned-dinner last February 7.

Lawyer Trixie Cruz-Angeles, who was part of the group who met with Duterte, shared that their conversations lasted until one o’clock in the morning and it was President Duterte himself who toured them around the Palace.

The bloggers’ requests include access to Palace briefing sessions where high-ranking officials and heads of offices meet with members of the media to discuss matters of public interests.

Blogger Thinking Pinoy revealed in a Facebook live video that he and other online personalities intend on forming a presidential social media corps that will cover the presidency.

Presidential Spokesperson Ernesto Abella, however, denied allegations that the bloggers will become part of the Malacanang Press Corps who holds office inside the New Executive Building inside the grounds of the Palace.

In a separate video, communications secretary Martin Andanar said that there have been instances where bloggers follow Duterte abroad during official travels. Some of these bloggers were given accreditation as part of the Philippine delegation.
