On Wednesday, February 15, the Commission on Appointments cleared the ad interim appointment of Atty. Vitaliano Aguirre II as the secretary of the Department of Justice.
Inquirer reported that Senator Loren Legarda moved the approval of Aquirre’s appointment and received no objections from any of the members of the appointments commission.
Legarda, being the chairperson of the CA’s committee on justice and judicial bar and council, presided over the confirmation hearing of Aguirre’s post.
It can be remembered that on February 15, the CA recommended the confirmation of Aguirre’s appointment.
It was only Senator Antonio Trillanes IV who opposed the appointment of Aguirre but despite the opposition, the CA still endorsed the San Beda College of Law graduate.
