Bongbong Marcos to be appointed as DILG sec —source
Ex-senator and VP hopeful Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. is set to return to the political scene soon as one of the cabinet members of the Duterte administration.
He will be the new Secretary of Interior and Local Government, according to news site Politiko.
The site sources say President Rodrigo Duterte is making preparations for Marcos’ entry into the Cabinet after the ban on appointing losing candidates in the May 2016 elections expires.
As secretary of DILG, Marcos will hold a colossal influence on local politikos and governments.
During the Aquino administration, it was widely believed that Mar Roxas was named Interior Secretary to cultivate relationships with local politikos to advance his presidential ambitions.
With Marcos’ imminent appointment to the Department of Interior and Local Government, it seems the son and namesake of former strongman Ferdinand Marcos isn’t giving up yet on his presidential dreams even as his election protest against Vice President Leni Robredo is ongoing.
