Journalist Jojo Robles said that the case of Mamasapano in 2015 can be considered as the granddaddy of all extra-judicial killings in the country.

"If the most important aspect of extra-judicial killing for you is that it has to be state-sanctioned, I propose that you consider the Mamasapano Massacre as the granddaddy of all EJKs," he said on a Facebook post on Thursday.

He said the incident was to be blamed on President Benigno Aquino III anyway.

"After all, the massacre was the direct result of the planning, approval and implementation -- however fatally flawed in all stages, admittedly -- of the head of state at the time. That the commandos were led to their head-of-state-sanctioned doom is hardly in doubt."

The journalist said that despite the accountability being pointed at Aquino, President Rodrigo Duterte must also be questioned for the spate of extrajudicial killings in the country.

"Fair is fair. If Duterte needs to account for the killings brought on by his war on drugs, why can't Aquino be held responsible for sending his troops on a mission of certain death because of his incompetence and lack of caring for them?" he said.

"Uphold the human rights of the SAF44. Hold Noynoy Aquino accountable for their extra-judicial deaths," he said.
