Journalist: Hate Duterte with all your might, but you can't question where his heart is

Journalist Jojo Robles in his Facebook page said that no matter how much the people could hate President Rodrigo Duterte, it is clear that his heart is with the Filipino people.

Robles said this in light of Duterte's recent approval of a P1,000-increase in the Social Security pension this year.

Duterte also approved a 1.5 percent contribution rate hike in May 2017 and a monthly salary increase to 20,000 from 16,000.

 Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez III, Budget Secretary Benjamin Diokno, and Socioeconomic Planning Secretary Ernesto Pernia – submitted a position paper to the President opposing the hike as it would bankrupt the fund.


"It was the formidable finance wizarding team of Dominguez, Diokno and Pernia against the immovable pro-people trio of Mariano, Taguiwalo and Maza in the battle for the SSS pension increase during last monday's cabinet meeting. In the end, the president sided with the pro-people faction and rejected the pleas of his top bean-counters," he said.

"You may hate Duterte with all your might, but you will never be able to credibly question where his heart lies," he added.
