Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte was named as one of the Most Powerful People of 2016 by Forbes Magazine.

Duterte joined 73 other leaders, advocates and entrepreneurs who represent various sectors in the list. He was the the 70th of the 74 Most Powerful People of international business magazine.

“The former mayor of Davao City was elected president of the Philippines in May 2016 on the strength of a campaign that promised the swift execution of drug users and other criminals, and his war on crime has already resulted in the killing of thousands of people,” an excerpt of the magazine’s description of Duterte read.

Russian leader Vladimir Putin topped the list, while US president-elect Donald Trump placed second.
