This was the statement of PNP spokesperson Sr. Supt. Dionardo Carlos after Taylor decided to cancel his Manila concert in  2017, citing the increasing number of deaths related to the President Rodrigo Duterte's war on drugs campaign.

According to the Philippine National Police, Grammy-winning American singer-songwriter James Taylor is the one who is losing out by cancelling his concert in our country.

"At the end of the day, it is a loss for him to experience the warmth and hospitality of the music-loving Filipino audience and also earn his purse from the concert," said Carlos.

The PNP official, however, noted that they respect Taylor's decision.

"We cannot fault him for basing such decision on incorrect information about our country's peace and order situation," he said, adding he could have confirmed for himself if the extra-judicial killings were true if he had come to the country.
