"Senator Trillannes, anyare?"

Duterte supporter and social change advocate Sass Sasot questioned the sudden "change of heart" of Senator Antonio Trillanes III regarding the burial of late president Ferdinand Marcos at the Libingan ng mga Bayani.

On June 2011, he said Marcos deserves nothing less than a hero's burial, even criticizing former Vice President Jejomar Binay's suggestion to give only military honors for the late President.

"The fact is naging sundalo ho si former President Marcos and that place is also reserved for soldiers. He has served this country and hindi ho ma-ne-negate yun ng mga activities, which actually is still subjective for some," Trillanes said.

The senator said people should not discriminate.

"It's either we do away with the policy or we craft a new one but we can never be selective. I won't mind actually. I'm not the overly sentimental type. E matagal na pong namatay yung tao." he said.

"I don't think it really matters to anybody's interpretation of history kung saan siya nakalibing dahil sa akin ho, ano, in the future kung kunyari itong si former president [Gloria Macapagal Arroyo] e ililibing at pinagdedebatehan kung san ililibing, sa akin bahala sila kung san nila ililibing." he added.

Yet now, Trillanes is against the motion, calling it a "headache" for the Duterte administration.

He said that the hero's burial for Marcos only serves as a divisive and sensitive issue for the country.

"Yung pamilya Marcos sana they could spare itong Duterte administration from all the headache kung sila na mismo ang mag-inisyatibo na ipalibing na lang kung saan," he said.
