Sass Rogando Sasot, a social change advocate and contemporary political analyst gave a comment on the recent cancellation of the United States of America on the Arms Deal that it shares with the Philippines
This a result of the recent "cutting of ties" between the two countries as initiated by President Rodrigo Duterte.
US State Department made a decision to halt the sale of some 26,000 assault rifles to the PNP because of the alleged human rights violations in the country amid the government’s bloody war against drugs.
"It's a US Foreign Policy move that hits two birds with one stone:" Sasot wrote.
She said that the US is only using the extrajudicial killings on the surface.
"BUT I'm more interested with the strategic value of this foreign policy decision. As I see it, its purpose is to test Duterte's resolve in opening relations with Russia." she wrote.
"Parang ganito: tingnan natin kung totoo itong sinasabi ni Duterte na lalapit siya sa Russia." she added.
