Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre is confused as to why Ombudsman Conchita Carpio-Morales would not allow an investigation on Senator Leila de Lima on her alleged involvement with drug trade within the New Bilibid Prison.
Witness have emerged, even including government officials, and yet Morales called these "mere allegations".
“Kaya hindi ko po alam kung bakit niya sinasabi and I believe that it is the Ombudsman herself who could explain her stand,” he said.
Aguirre claims that these statements are more than just allegations.
“These are accusations although testimonial evidence lamang. Pero whether it is testimonial evidence, these are evidence against somebody for being charged of the violation of the Dangerous Drugs Act,” explained the Secretary.
Agurre says that the Department of Justice has jurisdiction and is now conducting preliminary investigations against De Lima.
