A netizen from Ilocos, home of the late president Ferdinand Marcos, said that while it is undeniable that the horrors of the Marcos regime existed, his burial is necessary to "heal wounds of the past".
GJC Antonio, posted on Facebook his support for the burial.
Besides President Rodrigo Duterte, nine judges from the Supreme Court also supported the motion to bury Marcos at the Heroes' Cemetery.
He said that the law permits the man to be granted a hero's burial, as upheld by the Supreme Court.
Antonio also claimed that he respected those who are against it, saying he does not understand the pain that the time had brought upon them.
"If they believe that democracy has been neglected by the SC, it's fine. That's how they see it."
He admitted that the era which brought about the torture of over 35,000 Filipinos and murder of over 2,000, is already etched in Philippine history.
"While we Ilocanos rejoice about this milestone, let us take this opportunity to heal wounds of the past." he wrote.
The Marcos' supporters in their hometown, have remained loyal despite the years.
