Is Senator Bam ashamed of his Aquino lineage?

An article from Politics.com suggested that incumbent Senator Paolo Benigno Aquino might be ashamed of his "Aquino" heritage since he had his surname removed from tweets and releases involving him.

An article from Politiko suggested that incumbent Senator Paolo Benigno Aquino might be ashamed of his "Aquino" heritage since he had his surname removed from tweets and releases involving him.

The Aquino family is without doubt, the most politically influential in the country, with two presidents and three senators.

Yet this senator would rather be addressed as "Senator Bam" in releases about him.

The suggestion is that he is simply trying to build an identity without being associated to the prominent members of his family.


The article suggested that would be hard for Aquino to pull off considering that he used his surname to get a career in politics.

"Whatever Aquino’s intentions may be for dropping Aquino from his publicity materials, he’d be hard pressed to completely break away from his family’s reputation and legacy." it read.
