The Iglesia ni Cristo has asked Sagip party-list Rep. Rodante Marcoleta, to join the super majority in the House of Representatives led by the Partido Demokratikong Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban), President Rodrigo Duterte's political party. Marcoleta is a member of the church.

According to reporter DJ Yap, Albay Rep. Edcel Lagman stated that Marcoleta was leaving their "legitimate minority group" in the 17th Congress and has opted to join the majority coalition.

The bloc-voting INC, according to Lagman, asked him to join the super majority comprised of almost two-thirds of the Congress.

The Congress is comprised of 292 members. With the minority being comprised of less than a third of the population, an impeachment, which requires one-third of the votes, cannot pass the House.

Rudy Farinas, Majority leader, confirmed that Marcoleta has switched. He also claimed that that the man was joining the super majority because he realized that his party-list's goals did not align with that of Lagman's group.

Marcoleta's group has been reduced to 7 from 8 members. Despite this, they remain positive, even calling themselves the "Magnificent 7", and no longer the dreary "Legitimate 8".

The members of the group along with Lagman, are Ifugao Rep. Teddy Baguilat, Caloocan Rep. Edgar Erice, Magdalo Rep. Gary Alejano, Capiz Rep. Emmanuel Billones, Akbayan Rep. Tomasito Villarin and Northern Samar Rep. Raul Daza. MJM
