“Sen. De. Lima, acting as the Mother of all drug lords and through the use of her authority, was able to appoint and designate men inside the Bilibid in order to ensure the perpetuation of illegal drug trade.”
This is the content of the complaint filed against neophyte senator Leila de Lima before the Department of Justice (DOJ).
The rap was filed by former National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Deputy Directors Reynaldo Esmeralda and Ruel Lasala filed on October 13, 2016 a similar case as the charges filed by Victims Against Crime and Corruption (VACC).
The case was for the violation of Section 5 (sale) in connection to Section 26(b) (conspiracy to sell) of the Dangerous Drug Act of 2002.
Aside from De Lima, also included in the complaint was NBI Deputy Director Rafael Ragos. Ragos earlier attested before Congress about the drug money he and NBI agent Jovencio Ablen Jr. delivered to De Lima when she was still the Justice Secretary.
