PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte proposed on Tuesday, September 20 to revive the Philippine Constabulary (PC) to further strengthen the government forces in combating urban terrorism.
“I will return the Philippine Constabulary under the four commands… kasi kailangan ko ng tao sa urban terrorism like the SAF (Special Action Force),” the President said during his Tuesday's visit to a military camp in Compostela Valley.
However, Duterte said that even with the revival of PC, the Philippine National Police (PNP) will stay as one of the four major commands of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).
The PC was established in 1901 as a military force with police duties to keep peace and order in the country. In 1991, it was merged with the Integrated National Police to form the PNP.
The tough President warned his constituents that threat of terrorism lurks country. He earlier said that possible attacks may happen in Mindanao following the Davao deadly blast last September 2. AJRSP
