Pres. Duterte on Miriam’s death: We have lost a great leader

PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte extended his condolences to the family of the late Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago Friday dawn, September 30.

In a press conference at the Davao International Airport, Duterte said that Miriam’s death is indeed a country’s lost.

“We have lost a leader, the colorful language of (Miriam) and above all yung utak (her intelligence), we have lost one good guy in our country,” Duterte said.

Miriam, the feisty, veteran Senator dubbed as the “Iron Lady of Asia” died peacefully in her sleep while at the St Luke's Medical Center in Taguig Thursday, September 29 at 71 years old.

It can be recalled that the two (Defensor and Duterte) during one of the Presidential debates last elections sparked the nation with their good working relations. In the said debate both praised each other, which gave birth to the team dubbed as “Duriam.”

Duterte said that he will visit the wake of the late Senator soon. AJRSP
