Palace: Duterte not capable of ordering these alleged killings

"I believe Duterte is not capable of ordering these alleged killings when he was still Mayor of Davao City."

This was the statement of Presidential Communications Secretary Martin Andanar about the bombshell dropped by alleged member of Davao Death Squad, Edgar Motabato on Thursday.

"'Di ba inembistigahan na nga noon 'yan nung Commission on Human Rights noong sinaunang panahon, nung Mayor pa ho si Pangulo at wala namang charge, wala naman silang nakita direktang ebidensya," Andanar said in a press briefing in Malacañang.


Andanar said that they need today's hearing to complete first before giving a more far reaching reaction on Matobato's affirmations. He said they likewise need to counsel Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre on the matter. 

Amid the resumption of Senate hearing on the spate of extrajudicial killings and outline executions on Thursday, Sen. Leila De Lima presented Motabato- - a previous individual from the Davao Death Squad- - who is said to be in charged of slaughtering small time culprits in Davao City. 


Matobato point by point the affirmed operations of the demise squad and asserted these were actualized on requests of then Davao Mayor Duterte.
