The next hearing of the Senate committee on justice and human rights regarding the alleged drug-related extrajudicial killings has been set on September 28.
According to Sen. Richard Gordon, committee chair and the one who announced the date of the next hearing, he would hold two or three more hearings before the conclusion of the inquiry will be released.
Officials and witnesses of the Commission of Human Rights, as well as the purported 23 members of the Davao Death Squad are invited. The 23 members were identified by Edgar Matobato, and most are policemen.
SPO4 Arthur Lascanas, the leader of the death squad according to Matobato, was summoned.
These DDS members Matobato said, were his cohorts in killing criminals in Davao City as ordered by President Rodrigo Duterte during his reign as the city mayor.
Sen. Panfilo Lacson disclosed that he would be holding a caucus on the 26th where they would discuss how to go about the issue of alleged DDS members. He also proposed a separate executive session to hear their testimony. ASCS
