When asked about the case of convicted drug mule Mary Jane
Veloso, President Rodrigo Duterte has remained silent.
However, Foreign Affairs Secretary Perfecto Yasay Jr. Said that
Indonesia has agreed to put the Filipina out of the execution schedule
indefinitely.
President Duterte is currently in Indonesia for a 24-hour
working visit to the country’s President, Joko Widodo.
Duterte’s mission is to improve ties with the country and to
appeal for the salvation of Veloso.
Veloso wasfound guilty of smuggling drugs in the foreign
country and was on death row. She was however, spared from a firing squad at
the 11th hour as the Bali Nine pair and six others were killed.
Hours before her execution, Widodo delayed her killing with
a temporary reprieve since she won the sympathy of her countrymen who voiced
out for her life.
