Vice mayor Sampaga shot dead in Cagayan
Seems to be another victim of vigilante-style killing, Pamplona Vice Mayor Aaron Sampaga was shot multiple times at 11:20 p.m. on Friday night by motorcycle-riding gunmen.
The gunmen drove through a makeshift road leading to the compound of the public officials close friend, Rodolfo Guzman. According to Senior Insp. Francis Pattad, Pamplona town police chief, it was during a gathering at Masi village.
The gunmen were identified to have been armed with an M-16 Armalite rifle and a Cal. 45 handgun. Both were wearing black jackets, blue shirts, and caps.
Pattad said they have yet to find a motive for the killing.
Sampaga has served as Mayor in Pamplona for three terms before he won as vice mayor on May 9. His sister filled in his previous position and defeated former vice mayor Edwin Ifurung in the elections. Ifurung has filed murder charges against Sampaga two years ago, for the murder of Ilfurung’s brother. ASCS
